The Velvet Cell is an independent publishing house, established by Éanna de Fréine in 2011.

The goal of The Velvet Cell has always been to publish beautiful, thought provoking, photography projects that explore our modern world in book form. We are particularly interested in projects that examine the man-altered landscape. Our books aim to both inspire and inform our readers.

Today, we are an urban species. For the first time most of us are living in a world that we have purposefully created for ourselves. What does our new world say about us? How do our cities reflect us as people? How do our cities change us as people? Are they a form of progression or regression?
